Freightliner continues expansion of Axis IP camera system

Sixteen Axis network cameras have been added to Freightliner’s Southampton terminal. The further expansion will enable Freightliner to secure the premises at their Maritime and Millbrook sites in Southampton docks and will provide greater control over their daily operation.

NW Systems installed the new system which includes wireless connectivity across the sites to extend the reach of the Axis cameras to the very outer limits of the compounds. The system will be an active tool for Freightliner managers to monitor health and safety rules, traffic volumes and vehicle movements. The IP camera system will also be used to provide video evidence regarding insurance or damage claims made against the company.

Daniel Prendergast, Deputy Operations Manager at Freightliner said: “NW Systems offered a professional and sympathetic solution to provide vital incident and security recording equipment at one of the UK’s busiest Rail Freight Terminals. The NW team worked through all the typical issues you would expect to encounter to ensure a seamless installation.”

Freightliner uses the camera system 24/7 with all cameras being accessible across Freightliner’s computer network, which means that authorised staff can view live or recorded video images from any terminal, regardless of where they are located.
