M&S flagship store utilises RemoteManager to oversee build

Requirements

Simons Group alongside Marks and Spencer wanted to invest in a system that would monitor the inside fit-up of their flagship store at the popular Cheshire Oaks retail park.

Due to be the second largest M&S in the UK and one of the most environmentally friendly, Simons Group were eager to monitor their site for security purposes whilst maintaining a visual record of the building's creation.

Solution

NW Systems proposed using our RemoteManager system alongside eight Mobotix high resolution cameras to oversee the next stages of the project. This system would allow operatives to monitor the project live whilst also creating a time-lapse movie and image archive for promotional purposes upon completion.

Outcome

Simons Group and Marks and Spencer now have a system they can rely on to monitor their site, which provides high quality footage with remote connectivity. Aside from the convenience of this, connecting remotely allowed Simons Group to connect their client to the system. Marks and Spencer could then get real-time updates and progress on the project.

Background

In 2006 Simons Group and Marks and Spencer were given approval to create the largest M&S store outside of London.

Having commissioned a company to record the main frame build which proved to be an ineffective relationship they decided to seek a more knowledgeable and capable company to record the inside build. However, they wanted to find a system that would allow them to continuously monitor the build as well as recording its progress.

RemoteManager is a system specifically designed for the construction and development industry. With a full service provided including system design, installation, wireless options and managed hosting it was a clear choice for Simons Group.

The project started in 2006 and was initially made possible by Simons Developments, part of Simons Group Ltd. which would see the creation of one of the most eco-friendly builds in the UK.

NW Systems Group were approached and appointed to install eight Mobotix 3 megapixel IP cameras to oversee the next stages of the project which included the inside build and fit-up of the store. These HD cameras record high quality megapixel footage allowing for people and events to be easily recognised on site.

As part of such an important project, Simons Group were keen to record their progress in order to document the historical build. Footage would also be utilised from a daily image archive and a time-lapse movie, whilst also giving a visual record to key stakeholders.

Since our work with Simons Group on this ground-breaking multi-million pound project for Marks and Spencer they have now commissioned a second RemoteManager System to oversee the internal fit-up of their latest Boots store development at Enfield, London. Having completed over 300 projects for Boots we were keen to keep the relationship between Simons Group and their longstanding client strong with our high-resolution construction webcam system.
