Today, we have launched a new RemoteManager website. Take a look at www.remotemanager.com.
Our RemoteManager web camera system for construction projects has been a big success since it was launched in 2005. The RemoteManager camera system has been used on hundreds of projects over the years, including many landmark developments such Westfield London Shopping Centre, Royal Festival Hall (Southbank Centre), the Trafford Centre and Spinningfield projects in Manchester, and the Liverpool One and Cardiff St David’s city centre regeneration projects.
RemoteManager also continues to be used on many new school builds and housing developments with Balfour Beatty, Lend Lease, Carillion and Barratt Homes deploying the service on new projects continuously.
Using the latest camera and imaging technologies available, RemoteManager remains at the forefront of automated time-lapse photography and image archival. This, combined with full mobile compatibility and RemoteManager’s live video streaming capability, makes the service stand out in quality and usability, continuing to provide the construction industry with best-in-class hosted video product around. See for yourself on the new RemoteManager website: www.remotemanager.com.
After having been open for 70 years, the New Bodleian library, part of the University of Oxford, recently closed their doors to begin a major redevelopment and modernisation with their re-opening under the new name of the ‘Weston Library’ scheduled for 2015.
The project has three aims:
- to create new, high-quality storage for the Libraries’ valuable collections, which include rare and unique manuscripts, books and maps that the Bodleian preserves for the world of scholarship
- to develop the Libraries’ space for the support of advanced research
- to expand public access to these great treasures through new exhibition galleries and other facilities
To track the progress of this restoration, construction company Mace contracted us to implement our RemoteManager camera system. The webcam installation is to monitor build progression and the clear megapixel footage allows both people and events to be recognised on the site. RemoteManager provides real-time video, a time-lapse film and an image archive which will also give the University an historical collection of images for future use, whilst giving Mace important promotional materials for their project portfolio.

RemoteManager has been chosen to monitor the civil engineering works at Ogden and Holden Reservoirs.
United Utilities have appointed Eric Wright Civil Engineering Ltd to carry out the Grane Valley Reservoir System overflow works in a £3.9 million contract that will involve piling, service diversions, excavations and bridge construction at the overflow and spillway facilities as part of a safety improvement project at both reservoirs West of Haslingden, near Blackburn in Lancashire.
United Utilities enlisted NW Systems’ expertise to remotely monitor the Ogden and Holden Reservoirs via our RemoteManager webcam system. The Ogden site has one RemoteManager camera for the purpose of creating time-lapse movies and for construction progress monitoring across the sites. The cameras will also record on motion detection to a Milestone Software recording station.
Holden Wood is also utilising the RemoteManager system for the same purpose and has one additional camera to be used for security purposes on the compound. These cameras will record back to the Milestone installation at Ogden via the internet. In addition to this, a security guard will be stationed at Ogden and will monitor Holden Wood remotely.

Bath Spa University has signed a contract with Skanska, one of the world’s leading project development and construction groups for the first phase of a £40 million redevelopment plan for its Newton Park Campus. The build will provide state-of-the-art teaching facilities, a technology-enabled study space and a social learning space. The development has been designed in consultation with English Heritage, who support and endorse the plans. It meets the highest environmental standards and will blend in with the existing University buildings.
Bath Spa University wanted students to be able to see in real-time the second phase of the build as it was happening. NW Systems Group’s expertise was called upon and a solution was created that best met their needs. NW Systems Group implemented RemoteManager, its construction webcam system, to monitor the build taking place and to create time-lapse footage for the University students to view at any time.
RemoteManager, is a professional visual monitoring system developed by and offered through NW Systems Group Limited. It is used primarily on construction sites and property development projects.
After winning a £1.5 million grant the College of West Anglia have been given the go ahead to start the construction of its new £3 million technology block. With purpose-built workshops, classrooms and practical training facilities the new building is designed over two floors with a total area of 1,160 Square metres.
With such a large extension the college were keen to document the build and contacted us for a suitable solution. We recommended our RemoteManager webcam system, in order for the college to monitor the progress remotely and build an image archive of the construction. A 3G connection was provided as the site sat too far away from the connection already in place. This will allow for footage of the build to be distributed online for students and parents wishing to see the development. RemoteManager will also create a time-lapse film of the project.
Work began this month and is due to finish next summer when the system may then be moved to cover the demolition of an adjacent tower block.
