IP camera system secures Essex jewellers

June 28th, 2012 by emilycrawford

By the very nature of their work jewellers will always have to contend with a high theft and robbery risk factor. CCTV is one of the protectionist tools that the industry deploys to safeguard staff and valuables. Bellefontaines’ in Essex, a family run Jewellers since 1946, were experiencing issues with the security camera system they had in place and called in NW Systems to assess the system and advise on improvements.

Bellefontaines Jewellers shopfront NW’s system health check concluded that Bellefontaines’ existing video management software, recently installed alongside IP cameras, was not performing adequately. The software was replaced with Milestone Xprotect in order for the owners to better utilise and manage the cameras in operation. Milestone Xprotect software allows the shop’s owners to view their cameras in real-time or review recorded video footage when investigating incidents.

It was also advised that additional Axis HD cameras were installed at the store’s entrance allowing for high definition video to be captured of customers entering and leaving the store. This helps in the clear identification of individuals prior-to or after criminal activity occurs. Camera-integrated infra-red sensors detect motion in total darkness to trigger alarm notifications and switch on LED illumination to capture any untoward activity at night, whilst built-in microphones enable managers to listen as well as see what is happening in the store from home.

Bellefontaines’ are now confident the IP CCTV system meets the high security standards required, with the upgrade delivering high quality footage suitable for identification and prosecution when needed, whilst easy remote access capability provides extra peace of mind to Bellefontaines’ owners.
